Henley Results

Captain Peter reports:  For the second year running we returned to Henley on the 16th May and 14 players had a good day's golf.    Many thanks to organiser Dave Dickie (a Henley member).  The weather was warm and sunny although a strong afternoon breeze added difficulty.

Winner was President Terry Wall with a par score of 36 points who collected his 2 shot cut alongside the prize for NTP and a birdie 2 (on a different hole!).  Stephen Fayers got second and a one shot cut with 35 points on countback (19 on back 9).  Chairman Malcolm Large became the first ever recipient of our new coveted IBM BGS 'casino chip' ball marker for 3rd place with 35 points (15 on back 9).

Note - BGS member Stephen Anderson was also at Henley playing with another society in the morning - he won with 31 points - which would only be =4th place playing with us!

Terry took the NTP prize on the 125yd 7th but missed the birdie putt.  His birdie 2 came on the 138yd 13th.  Bill Quain took the NTP2 prize on the 379yd 17th - and got his par.

Players commented that putting was tricky with plenty of hidden borrows that required local knowledge to navigate.  The meal of Coq au Vin and Apple Crumble was much appreciated.

The charity Myeloma UK benefited from £8 twos money.  Peter explained his treatment was progressing well and his back improving such that he was going to try to play his first game of 2019 at Newbury.  Please sign up to play Newbury & Crookham on 4th June with Gordon Whickman.

We are thinking about returning again to Henley in late May 2020.
